Jump Rope Lollipop Props
I was looking for tutorials on making lollipops for Willy Wonka Jr., but I didn't want to try clay. When I saw these jump ropes at a dollar store I thought they would be perfect for the play and also for photo shoots.
Materials needed are jump ropes, scissors, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, and wooden dowels.

First we cut the handles off of the jump ropes and untied the knots. Then we cut the jump ropes in half. You could cut them in fourths to make smaller lollipops or use the entire jump rope, but you would need to find a way to support it. The size of your finished lollipop is also based on the width of your jump rope.
How to start the lollipop
Tuck the end of the jump rope under the rope and glue it in place then trim excess strings, see picture above. Next we started slowly rolling the jump rope making sure it stayed flat and round. If it starts looking more like an oval you will end up with a lopsided oval instead of a circle. We used the hot glue gun to glue it together every inch or so. Remove excess glue immediately while it is still tacky. Once you come to the end of the jump rope trim the rope and twist the colorful ends gluing them down.
The part with the end looks better as the bottom of the lollipop. Choose the side with the most hot glue showing to be the back, which isn't meant to be shown to the audience, and glue the wooden dowel in the center of the bottom half. We were liberal with the glue to ensure the stick held in place.
