We followed Fake 'N Bake's Herring-Do Part 1- Candy Sticks tutorial. If you want to get fancy you can wrap multiple ribbons around each stick. If you search for images of Old Fashioned Stick Candy or Stick Candy lots of pictures of different flavors show up.
Materials needed are 3/8" wooden dowels cut to size, various colored ribbons, white paint, paint brush, and Mod Podge.
First cut the wooden dowels to size, about 6". Smooth the ends. Paint the sticks and let dry. Next Mod Podge the ribbon on as you twist it around the stick. We let it dry then Mod Podged it again. Once that was dry we trimmed the ribbons. In the picture, you can see that the blue and purple ribbons have not been trimmed yet.
The Old Fashioned Stick Candy are hard to see in the picture. They are between the Tootsie Rolls and the gum ball machine, (both also made by Sabrina) on the lower right.
