The blue money bag was made with scrap material and it belongs to a prince so it's much smaller than the king's purple moneybag. Our king requested multiple moneybags so he can be "The King Moneybags".
Materials needed include velvet like fabric, needles, thread, scissors, fancy rope trim, marker, paper, bowl, ruler, glue, and straight pins.
Make a template using a bowl and a ruler. Place the bowl onto the paper and trace the circle. Then use the ruler to draw a line straight up from either side and another line connecting them. It does not have to be perfect. Nobody will notice mistakes when the bag is filled. I couldn't find a template online so I made my own. The "rectangle" above the circle needs to be big enough so it can double over and be sewed around the rope trim.
I folded the material in half a little bigger than my template. Be sure it is inside-out. I made the fold the bottom of my bag. Then traced the template and cut it out. Then hand sewed up the sides until I reached partway up the straight edge. Be sure to leave enough material to double over and sew around the rope trim.
With the bag still inside out fold the top over the rope trim and pin in place. Leave a bit of the rope out the sides. Carefully sew it together making sure not to accidentally sew the other side of the bag. Next bend the rope to make a loop and do the same thing to the other side of the bag.
Turn the bag right-side out and open the bag all the way. Tie a knot in the ends of the rope a few inches away from the bag. Take a smaller piece of the rope and tie it to the loop on the opposite side of the bag. This allows you to attach the moneybag to a belt.
My rope trim unraveled when I cut it, so you may need to glue it.

ReplyDeleteThank you. We are going to do another post about the jewels and coins.
DeleteKing of money bags 😂
ReplyDeleteThat's Alex for you. The plan is to have the costumes done soon so we can do a post with the kids in costume in time for National Tell a Fairy Tale Day on February 26th. We are doing The Frog Prince this year, which is our first year to do this.
DeleteThe king of moneybags 😂
ReplyDeleteYes, Alex wanted to be known as "King Moneybags." It's fun incorporating some of their ideas.
DeleteMade for a king...or queen
ReplyDeleteQuite true. We didn't make one for the Princess because she isn't wearing a belt, but we certainly could have.
DeleteThey look very realistic! Great job on making them and giving instructions on making them so I can make them myself!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I really appreciate all of the tutorials we have found out there. I'm glad to be able to add our our tutorials now.
