Crayola Model Magic Twisty Lollipop Props

Twisty Lollipop Props

One of the fun things about making props for Children's Theatre is that Sabrina and I get to try a bunch of different things and use a lot of different materials. The next time I make twisty lollipops I will work on my painting skills a bit. Sabrina painted hers in a completely different approach and my favorite was one of hers. Like with most things the more you do the better you become.

Materials needed are Crayola Model Magic, 6 inch wooden lollipop sticks or dowels, craft paint, Mod Podge, floral foam, news paper, and a paintbrush.

Making a twisty lollipop

Pinch off a bit of Model Magic and form a snake. Take your time to be sure it is the same width throughout. I made mine the length of a gallon size ziplock bag. Start at about halfway up the stick and slowly roll the snake around the stick with the Model Magic slanted upwards as you twist. If it doesn't look right just slide the Model Magic off and start over.

Unpainted Model Magic Twisty Lollipop

You want the Model Magic to completely cover the top half of the stick. Have the very last twist cover the top of the stick so that it doesn't show. Put the unpainted twisty lollipop in the floral foam to dry for a few days before painting it.

  1. Thank you. I have never been a fan of the twisty lollipops or really big lollipops, but I do think they are pretty.
