About Us

Sabrina and I, Marie-Anne, are a mother-daughter team. We make props for a local Children's Theatre,  and are starting to branch out into cosplay and making props for photographers.

Sabrina and her older brother both take classes at  Seedling Theatre Company. Sabrina has been cast as Wilber in Charlotte's Web Jr., Te Fiti in Moana Jr., Augustus Gloop in Willy Wonka Jr., and Grandma in Terri and the Turkey; among other roles. She has also worked as a stagehand for Frozen Jr. and  for the little kids' acting class. Sabrina has also taken a Prop Making Class.

One day we were invited to a Career Day at a College of Southern Nevada campus. Their drama department had a booth of student made props. Sabrina was fascinated. The lady manning the booth told us there were tutorials online. So we made that Sabrina's art class, (and it is the reason we often link to other tutorials).

About a month or so later, Sabrina gave a prop she made to Ms. Kris, the owner of Seedling Theatre Company. After that, Sabrina has volunteered to make  props for almost every play that she has been in and a few she wasn't in. Sabrina's props have been in Charlotte's Web Jr., Frozen Jr., Willy Wonka Jr.,  Order Up, Shrek Jr., Into the Woods Jr., and Moana Jr. at Seedling Theatre Company and in a Nativity skit at church.

We made many of the props for Willy Wonka's candy cart.

Although I spent a lot of time finding tutorials online and helping Sabrina make props, I didn't start making them until COVID-19 hit. That Summer I NEEDED a project to work on. So I volunteered Sabrina and myself to make props for the upcoming Willy Wonka Jr. play. I did not tell Sabrina that I was afraid the show would be cancelled, (thankfully it wasn't though, sadly, there was no live audience). I discovered that I really liked making props. My props have been in Willy Wonka Jr., Order Up, Into the Woods Jr., and Moana Jr.

We started The Prop Queens to keep track of the props we made when we outgrew the binder I was originally using. This blog allows us to give more detail, to link the tutorials we have used, and to share our props with others.
