Sabrina modified the following tutorial, How to make "fake" ice cream sandwiches. This was her first time to use an Xacto knife and her first time working with spackling. Sabrina gave one of these to the owner of Seedling Theatre. It was funny because Sabrina didn't say anything, she just handed it to Ms. Kris. Ms. Kris looked down and asked why Sabrina was giving her an ice cream sandwich.
Materials needed are brown craft foam, thin styrofoam, spackling, Xacto knife, Popsicle stick, cardboard, scissors, white paint, a paint brush, glue, and a pen.
Sabrina used a real ice cream sandwich as a template. She traced it onto cardboard. Then used that to trace the shape onto the craft foam and the styrofoam. Next she cut the craft foam with scissors and the styrofoam with an Xacto knife. I walked her through the process of using an Xacto knife safely, since it was her first time to use one.
Next, she applied the spackling around the edges of the styrofoam. She used a pen to poke holes in the craft foam like a real ice cream sandwich has. Then she glued the craft foam to the styrofoam. Once the spackling dried she painted it white if needed.
