Dryer Vent Sea Urchin Shells

In searching for sea urchin props I came across this tutorial for making a Pumpkin Dryer Vent Craft . The shape was perfect, (would also work for making barrel cactus).

Materials needed include; dryer vent, wire cutters, scissors, spray paint, beads, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, measuring tape, and clamps, if you follow the instructions, floral wire if you don't.

I should have reread the instructions before I cut my duct vent. I bought a different size than the tutorial and didn't measure. Therefore I was unable to just hot glue it together. Floral wire worked, but was time consuming and I definitely  have a back to mine that I do not want to audience to see. However, I was able to salvage it.

My sea urchin is going to be used for in Moana for Tamatoa's lair so it needed to be SHINY! So I spray painted it gold.

After it dried, I cut my bead ribbon to size and hot glued it to every other section. The beads are a slightly different gold than the spray paint, which makes them stand out a bit more.

On set of Moana Jr.
