Stacks of Gold Coins, Uncle Scrooge McDuck style
I came up with this idea while working out the details for Jack and the Beanstalk. In the story, the giant counts his gold, and he has lots of gold! The screw on lids have ridges like coins do. I asked friends to save their milk lids for me. This works best if you have the same type of lids in each stack. I want multiple stacks with most even higher than this stack.
Materials needed include lots of screw on milk lids, Gorilla Wood Glue, cardboard, and gold spray paint.
I dipped my finger in the Gorilla Wood Glue and covered the edge of the milk lid in glue then stacked it on top of another lid. Wipe off the excess or peel it off when it dries. Wash your hands while glue is still wet. Let the stack dry overnight before spray painting.
You can add detail to the top coin. Or have a few loose coins, but I suggest gluing the milk lid to cardboard and spray painting it too. We glued some "loose" coins together to look like they were spilled from an open bag of gold. Only three coins were actually loose.
I glued the stacks to a tray to keep them together and prevent them from falling over. It also gives the appearance of it being a ritual to the giant.
Looks like a Midas giant 😉 love the idea
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've got to find a way to make them stronger. One of my little guys completely tore the stack apart.
