Simple Marshmallow Pop Props

Marshmallow Pop Props

These are the first props we made using Crayola Model Magic. They are very simple to make, but do require time to dry out. We let them sit for a week after shaping them into marshmallows. A few days should be sufficient. You could just make marshmallows, make roasted marshmallows, or s'mores using these.

Materials needed: Crayola Model Magic, thin wooden dowels the width of lollipop sticks, craft paint, paint brush, parchment paper or newspaper to catch drips, Mod Podge and floral foam. Sprinkles or decor is optional.

Pinch off enough Crayola Model Magic to make a golf ball size  ball. Roll it out into a thick snake. Smoosh the top and play with it until you get the size and shape of a marshmallow. Take your time and make sure that you are satisfied with it. Next gently press the wooden dowel into one end of the Model Magic. Then carefully reshape it. The key it to take your time.

After they dry for a few days dip the top in craft paint then roll the sides being sure that all the part you want painted is covered. Use a paintbrush to apply paint in spots as needed. Stand it in the floral foam to drip dry. Once dry add any embellishments you want.

Sabrina and I both made Model Magic Marshmallow Pops for Willy Wonka Jr. It is a lot of fun making props for the theater and seeing them used on stage. Since there wasn't an audience due to COVID-19, this is the only picture I have of our props for Willy Wonka Jr.
