Concession Stand Nachos Props

We modified the tortilla part of this tutorial; 7 EASY STEPS TO MAKE A FELT TACO PLAY SET  to make nachos. The restaurant in Order Up! has everything, but the food isn't that great. So concession stand nachos are perfect- they almost always look better than they taste.

Materials needed are off white felt, brown sharpie marker, cup, scissors, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, corn starch, water, yellow paint, and a paint brush.

We traced as many circles with a cup onto the felt  as possible. Some semicircles are fine. Cut them out. Then we looked at real nachos for inspiration of how to shade them. We ended up doing most with the line pattern and a few with random spots.

We followed the cornstarch method of this tutorial;  HOW TO STIFFEN FELT FABRIC FOR FELT CRAFTS AND DIY PROJECTS to stiffen each chip.

If we were to make them again, we would attach the chips together before adding the "Cheese". That would have been much easier. What we did was add cheese- blobs of hot glue to each chip then glue them together. We had to go back and add more once they were glued together to make it look right.

We used a plate to judge how big our pile of chips should be. Bend some of the ones on bottom in half to make it look fuller. Be sure that all straight edges of any semicircles are covered by other chips.

Using the hot glue gun, make blobs of glue to look like nacho cheese was poured onto the chips. Paint them yellow- we needed multiple coats of paint.
