Simple DIY Lace Trim Crowns

These crowns are so simple to make that Sabrina made extras to give to the Children's Theatre and one for her friend. We followed Jessica's Workshop's  How To Make A Crown, Super Easy! I couldn't find starch when I went to the store so we made our own using  Heart Hook Home's easy to follow tutorial for How to Make Super Heavy Starch for Crafting.

Materials needed include fancy lace trim, cornstarch, water, pot, measuring cup, measuring spoon, cardboard, tape, parchment paper, and spray paint. The lace trim on the bottom of the picture above was easier to work with than the one with no support on the top.

Cut the lace into the length of the crown. Let the lace trim soak in the starch. Meanwhile, cut strips of cardboard and tape them into circles the size of the crown you want. We made two different sizes.

Remove one piece of lace and use your fingers to remove the excess starch from the lace. Then wrap the lace around the cardboard being careful to keep it straight. How it dries is how it will stay. Let it sit overnight to dry. Once dry carefully peel from cardboard and spray paint.

  1. Hi, Mama Erin! My little boys love them. The ones with support at the top work much better and stay together much better.
