Royal Scepter Prop Tutorial

This was my original idea for the scepter. I sketched it out, one night at 2 am when I couldn't fall asleep, because I knew I wouldn't remember it in the morning. As you can see, I made a few changes to the actual prop.

Materials needed include sturdy cardboard tube (or PVC pipe) about the size of a paper towel roll, gold spray paint, gold glitter spray paint, velvet ribbon, normal size plastic Christmas ornament, a slightly smaller plastic ball, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, and scissors.

Spray paint the cardboard tube gold and both balls glitter gold. Let them completely dry.  Hot glue the ribbon along the seam on the cardboard tube. Then hot glue ribbon in a spiral going the opposite direction.

Hot glue ribbon around the Christmas ornament covering the seam line. Then hot glue another piece of ribbon making an X on top like in the picture above. The hook will be the bottom and will be hidden inside the tube. Hot glue the ornament to the tube with the hook inside.

Hot glue the smaller ball to the other end of the cardboard tube. Then glue the ribbon around where the ball and cardboard are attached covering any hot glue that is showing. In my picture, you'll notice that I added the ribbon around the top and bottom before gluing the balls on. I had globs of hot glue showing and had to add more ribbon to cover it up.
