Easy 3D Jewels, Gold Coins, and Silver Coins

Royal Money Bags with scattered jewels and coins

Many stories include treasure of some sort. So we had fun trying out different ways of making gold coins, silver coins, and jewels.

Materials needed are round and oval shaped flat-backed acrylic gems, hot glue gun, and hot glue sticks. Or jewel stickers.

We got some round and oval shaped flat-backed acrylic gems. We hot glued matching colors and shapes together. We tried to line up the round ones just right, but it was hard. The line between the two pieces does show, but I didn't mind. If it bugs you then maybe you could paint it or glue fancy trim to make it look like a finished jewel.

Sticker Jewels work too, but not the smaller ones.

You don't have to make everything from scratch. These jewels were for vase filler at the Dollar Tree. They are perfect the way they are.

Cheap Poker Chips spray painted gold. These are more for a base layer in a pile of treasure or for the actor to fiddle with without the audience seeing there is no detail. If the audience  clearly sees the coins then they need some kind of detail added to be more realistic. They also work for stacks of gold coins, but they aren't the cheapest way. This is almost the entire pack of 100 and it's only a few inches high.

I'm sorry, but I cannot find the video that gave me this idea.

Spray paint dollar store coins. I thought they were too shiny and unrealistic, so I painted them. You could add a bit of a wash to make them look old. The bottom coin isn't spray painted to show how shiny it is.
